To all Oromo Evangelical Churches:
Ref: Invitation to the annual UOEC spiritual conference in Minneapolis.
“… He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd…” ( Jer. 31: 10 )
As Christians, we believe whatever is happening to his people is for the glory of God. If he scatters, it is for the best interest of his people. It might not be easy for many people to understand how God is doing good things through this kind of hardships. The almighty God who is behind every action knows why our people are scattered allover the world. God is doing a lot of mighty things through our people around the world. . We praise the Lord for what he is doing. He is doing wonderful things in all our churches. We know our fellowship is so essential not only to meet each other but also for reaching out to the needy and left out. We also worship together to edify each other and encourage one another in faith.
We all remember that it was decided by the council of the UOEC in Seattle that the next UOEC spiritual conference is going to be held in Minneapolis. And the Oromo Evangelical Lutheran church of Minneapolis has also gladly accepted to host the conference. Preliminary arrangements and planning which is headed by the leadership of the church is already underway. Multiple committees have already been organized and the atmosphere of receiving brothers and sisters in July 2007 is getting escalating. The Oromo Lutheran Church of Minneapolis is working hard to make this conference to be a blessing for all of our churches. We are also planning to organize youth conference simultaneously to reach our children during this wonderful event. So, bring on your children for a unique blessing that is awaiting them during the conference. Another planning is also underway through the UOEC president-Dr Gamachis to invite the presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) - Bishop Mark S. Hanson. And the Oromo church of Minneapolis is also working on inviting the Minneapolis Area Synod bishop-Craig Johnson, partner churches, cluster churches and others. Saturday afternoon will be a special celebration with our guests.
The conference dates are July 19-22, 2007.Aand the pre conference meetings (pastors-17th and council meeting 18th) are also being planned as usual.
With this letter, we cordially invite you to the 2007 UOEC spiritual conference and encourage all Oromo churches to take part in this wonderful gathering. This conference is going to be a blessing for all of us, please never miss this unique event that is going to happen in Minneapolis!
More information regarding the conference will be communicated to all churches in the mean time. We encourage all church leaders to respond to our inquiries on time and do motivate people to plan for the conference from now.
